05-52-2022-Music Flows

It still amazes me to this day how just finding one new thing can lead to many more things, if you follow the flow.

I like to listen to music when I work and at the moment most of my work is writing code so that, at least for me, rules out listening to things where I would need to pay attention like a podcast.

I switch between a few sources of music, some local play lists and the occasional streaming service or two. No, not that one (you can probably guess from the current news) but something that takes your input for bands/musicians for reference and will play you things that it things are related. This would be Jango. They also have a fair amount of independent musicians/bands that are pretty good and I am sure I would have never heard of them without Jango.

So I was working along and I heard something familiar but different in my headset so I had to look and see what was playing. It was a band called Spahn Ranch.

Spahn Ranch band Wikipedia

Spahn Ranch was an American electro-industrial group from Los Angeles, California, United States. Active from 1992 to 2000, the band played a subgenre of industrial music with its fusion of electronic dance, industrial and gothic music.

I had never heard of them before but the song I had heard many times.

One Of These Days by Pink Floyd.

OK, lead on! The song was part of an album called A Saucerful Of Pink - A Tribute To Pink Floyd.

Here are some of the details: A Saucerful Of Pink A Tribute To Pink Floyd 1995, CD - Discogs

You can listen to it here: A Saucerful Of Pink A Tribute to Pink Floyd - YouTube.

They are very different and yet have many of the familiar elements of Pink Floyd's music. If you like Pink Floyd and electronic music I would say give it a listen.
